Divorce
We work with individuals seeking a divorce where minor children are not involved, including "gray" divorce.
Divorce tends to be an emotionally-charged and disruptive event for the parties involved and hurt feelings and blame are abundant. Additionally, it's a foreign process to most people and they don't know what to expect. It's often difficult to make rational decisions in such circumstances. We are here to be the voice of reason and a calming presence to guide you through the process.
Nearly all divorce cases settle before trial, which has several benefits for the parties, including financial as well as mental and emotional. Settlement allows parties more control over their outcome than does having a judge make the final decisions. Sidebar: if any party is seeking a one-sided, winner-take-all outcome, they will be disappointed; the law in Michigan favors fair and equitable outcomes, especially in domestic relations cases. For this reason we focus on client-centered, realistic solutions rather than scorched-earth litigation tactics (which will serve little purpose other than to inflame the acrimony between the parties).
